  1. Interesting...I literally just checked out that exact same revision to restore a back up of characters I needed. As a matter of fact, I was doing that right before I came back to read your reply... What a coincidence?

    I can't tell how many times I've worked on something, came back and seen another update added to TC, literally minutes later.

  2. Maybe another reason, not to use torrents?

    Out of the 4 successful torrents that downloaded out of almost 10 I tried have been modified or slightly tweaked.. Even though they weren't the correct size and also recommened to use it, log in, and "finish" streaming content while in game.. (i just don't see a point in that) just makes me now stay clear away from Cata client torrents now.

    So far I havn't had a single issue with the client that I have fully streamed from Blizz's bucket servers. (enUS) (Using the DVD cata approach)

    It's just ironic that I have the entire DVD collection and the card that is in all the boxes say "to share these clients with your friends!"

    So... anyone know a good free cloud storage or such to upload? Because Im going to .rar the full 19.2 cata 4.3.4 15595 (un-modified) and share it with my friends!

    Quote from Blizzards card:

    1) Give a friend this Guest Pass Key.

    2) Loan a friend your Game CDs to install World of Warcraft on his/her machine (your friend will not need the CDs to play the game after installation.)

    3) Blah blah

  3. Has anyone figured out how to get the actual update files for doing this "offline" or from your own server instead of using Blizzard's? I realize it's handy that this streaming can be done this way now, but, what happens when they stop hosting those updates, or change them to take you directly to the latest revision in one fell swoop?

    Once they shut off or redirect the streaming, or stream newer content that makes 434 obsolete, is where there will have to be actual client downloads (more volunteers for seeders/torrents). There doesn't seem to be a problem with enGB. enGB is infested all over the internet. it's the enUS that is extremely limited for some reason. Another problem is that most of the torrents that I have managed to download is still not complete.

    So yeah, good point. Blizzard flips a switch and we are screwed.

    Like I said before... get it while it's hot.

  4. So far iv'e tried about 4 different torrent's and they all result to about 15+ gbs, which does seem to be too small. I really found in my experience that the streaming method with MFIL's is really the best way to go. Ive been reading forums, and thats the best way even according to Blizzard. Also, the client patcher will allow the client to talk to the server (in-sync) so the menu options like "Exit Game", "Log out", and he client updates when moving in the world will work properly. It's a hack, but the only method to get it working.

  5. Thugly, If the luancher loads, then just close it...

    You also have to have all the MFIL's. You are also having problems with the client talking to the server. I keep re-posting my posts... read my friends.... read closley....

    So i changed my realmlist.wtf to both to my private IP and it didnt do aything, now the launcher wont run (which is a good thing)

    However,

    cntc2 4.3.4 will solve your problem ;)

    Load that in your wow root dir and run it, then tell me what happens you get back into your server

  6. Please don't post your external IP. This isn't an advertising forum!

    I need to have this as my Signature...

    If one of the steps is missing in this checklist, than most likely you are having an issue connecting from the outside in.

    Your neighbor has the wtf modified with the public IP (DNS)... (check)
    Your neighbor is using the exact version to connect to your machine... (check)
    Your machine has the DB, the authserver, and worldserver all running on it... (check)
    Everything from the .conf has localhost or 127.0.0.1... (check)
    Your router has 8085 and 3724 forwarded... (check)
    The firewalls are enabled to communicate through 8085 and 3724... (check)
    Your neighbor can ping the public IP (DNS) that you obtained from, lets say whatismyip.com ... (check)
    You verified that public IP matches the DNS that you are hosting... (check)
    Last but, not least. You put the public IP in the DB.realmist, and relaunched authserver... (check)

    Your neighbor is able to connect... (fail)

    1 of the above steps is either missing, or needs to be reconfigured.
    If you modify your own .wtf file with your public IP (as if you are outside) and able to connect,.. than so can your neighbor

    Also, why are you appending port 8085 ??

    WorldSocket::handle_input_header(): client (account: 0, char [GUID: 0, name: <none>]) sent malformed packet (size: 8, cmd: 1867972644)

    This explains that you not supposed to do that, it's appending 8085 twice, thus resuling in this worldsocket malformed packet

  7. and I use the "direct" one so I would assume it simply downloads everything but it doesn't. Also, I can't get the backgrounddownloader to continue downloading when I exit the game because I don't use the launcher.

    Same for me... The background downloader wont work if I exit all the way out. Only the ingame streaming seemed to work.

    Yeah, the Launcher is evil... The launcher will always take you to the latest retail version, which is a No No

  8. @MrSmite

    I lose the icon about every 20 minutes, i thought it wasnt streaming, but it was. I went AFK, Anyways I left for work, came home after 10 hours and it would have been 15% to 45% and that was at the loading screen. I logged back in, then went to bed. Woke up the next morning, and it was 70% or more. I don't think you need to move around either. I noticed that It streams even at the login screen.

  9. I wonder if the OP still reads this...

    hahaha

    Anyways, Few days ago, I though I would try it once again, by loading the cata DVD, then load the patches, then the client patcher, etc. etc.

    Still came out to a 19.2gb client.

    Here it is streaming the data while in game.

    1wow_434_downloading.jpg

    And here it once, it was finally finished.

    2wow_434_finished.jpg

    After all said and done, Still came out to a 19.2Gb exactly.

    Not sure if that helps anyone.

  10. Meh... You are gonna make me redownload the client to confirm that. OK, Ill get to it for the sake of the community :P

    Then, Me love you long time..

    Although my theory is that my 19.2gb client is still full and complete, I still don't know where this rumor of 20-23gb is the full and complete, I don't seem to be having any issues with the one I have.

  11. Btw. there was perfectly full and working cata 4.3.4 torrent from old Mangos. Since there is no Mangos no more, I guess google is your friend.

    The problem is with the enUS, I stumbled upon a ton of toerrent for 15595 (enUS), but the problem I found was that there were not enough seeders.

  12. So i changed my realmlist.wtf to both to my private IP and it didnt do aything, now the launcher wont run (which is a good thing)

    However,

    ...not sure if this helps, but from the 335a copy i have, I loaded Cata from my DVD, then loaded all patches, then used "the client patcher". (Google cntc2 4.3.4), then loaded up in my own

    ...

    cntc2 4.3.4 will solve your problem ;)

    Load that in your wow root dir and run it, then tell me what happens you get back into your server

  13. Try placing the 15595 MFIL in the root..

    Thats odd that patchlist in the wtf trys to open Launcher. My client is 19.2gbs and it has no more content to download.

    EDIT: If you use the last 15595 TFIL and MFIL from wow_cata_tfil_collection-enUS.zip and drop them into wow root directory, you should still be able to run wow. What happens if you do that?

  14. The WTF is your own server. But I left the "patchlist" as the default Blizz server, not sure if that does anything.

    I left the (15595) mfil in the wow root directory, if you don't see a red circle than you may have no content to download and you are all set.

    The background downloader is only for the .mfil file. So like I said, we still have somewhat control of the content you want to download, just DONT ever run the launcher. The launcher verifies online to thier servers then takes control.

    If by chance the launcher ever loads, just close it immediatley!

    I also had a crap load DB errors/warnings also when starting up 434, but that's the world of alpha

  15. Still extracting the MMaps, it takes a crap load of time.

    As for your TFIL suggestion, I couldn't get it to work. I started WoW.exe and it checked something on blizzard's server and then it started the launcher which then wanted to download MoP stuff.

    I think it has something to do with the MFIL file because the Launcher downloads one that says:

    version=2
    server=akamai
        location=http://dist.blizzard.com.edgesuite.net/wow-pod-retail/NA/15890.direct/
    server=limelight
        location=http://llnw.blizzard.com/wow-pod-retail/NA/15890.direct/
    manifest_partial=wow-16309-1F7086575F8B693DE65EB37D9BC4AC7D.mfil

    Notice the "15890" which I believe is MoP. If you combine the URL as such:

    http://llnw.blizzard.com/wow-pod-retail/NA/15890.direct/wow-16309-1F7086575F8B693DE65EB37D9BC4AC7D.mfil

    you get an MFIL that has information for 15890 MPQ files so it automatically updates you to MoP.

    Edit:

    By the way, here's the enUS and EU Cata MFIL files if anyone's interested. It still doesn't work though because WoW.exe starts Launcher.exe which replaces the MFIL with a new one pointing to MoP data.

    Yeah I notied that 15890 in the Wow-64.exe in my previous post, which I didnt want to use for obvious reason - lol.

    Don't run that launcher.

    Background downloader will read the mfil, whatever you give it, which makes me think that it would be easy to make a "patcher" from 335a to 443 15595. If blizzard is generous enough to keep the streaming servers with the enUS and EU mfil storage servers.

    I say, "get it now, while it's hot!"

    I've been running it for over 8 hours and have no idea how much is left.

    On my quad core, it took about 6 1/2 hours to mmaps on 335a, i havn't ran mmaps on 443 yet.
