I think it's saying that out of those 333 or whatever dbc files, only 141 are required, but, let's stop focusing on what isn't wrong and find what is. try providing more information, are you trying to use a dbc/ folder below the folder with the bins, or where it is looking for it, in /etc/ or whatever?

launcher.blizzard.com (or something like that) in the hosts file will block the launcher from connecting, and not stop anything else from working properly.

Why allow the launcher to run at all? rename it, replace it with a copy of wow.exe or something. Or, just modify your hosts file to keep it from ever connecting, and never worry about it again.

This is one of the reasons I have said for a long time now that the team needs to put a little effort into seriously doing "releases" more properly, keeping those who don't have what it takes to rub their two brain cells together and figure out how to do something the guide doesn't cover, on a revision that is completely supported by the guide and the devs. while those who have more than 2 brain cells can venture into the deep dark world of newer revisions, with the understanding that, if they can't figure it out, then, they need to go back to the supported revision...

Try reading the guide very carefully, you will notice it says something about NOT putting your build directory in your source directory.

Not reading the post? I read it, then I clicked on the Info->Doxygen link and got the unavailable error... what did I miss here?

There are a lot of obsolete things in the mpq files, base.mpq will have a model for the taurens, for example, and update01 will have the same model with some slight change, so, they are both taking up space, but, only one of them is used, the original is ignored in favor of the updated one. Now, if you rebuild the mpqs, and drop the original model from base.mpq, you will make the client smaller by getting rid of stuff that is unused, maybe you have gotten ahold of such a modified client?

I can tell you, the doxygen link at the top of the page doesn't work.

Has anyone figured out how to get the actual update files for doing this "offline" or from your own server instead of using Blizzard's? I realize it's handy that this streaming can be done this way now, but, what happens when they stop hosting those updates, or change them to take you directly to the latest revision in one fell swoop?
